Film and DVD

Baldy Bane Theatre works in association with Soundsmove to produce film and DVD resources for our clients. The two companies exist independently but collaborate on the basis of individual strengths. Baldy Bane is well known and respected for producing specially commissioned stage plays to examine pertinent social issues through live drama. When there is a need to develop sustainability and facilitate ease of access, we work closely with Soundsmove and our clients to adapt the scripts as screenplays. This work results in tangible products (DVDs, CD ROMs and Resource Packs), which can be used readily on-site by our clients and their end users.

Changed Days

Commissioned by the North Glasgow Dementia Forum in 2009, firstly as a stage play, Changed Days was created to raise awareness within communities on how best to support people with dementia and their carers. Dementia is an illness, which is likely to impact on nearly everyone in some way or other over the next couple of decades when the number of people with dementia is likely to increase by 75% in Scotland.

Adapted from the stage play by Alison Couston, commissioned by North Dementia Forum and funded by Alzheimer Scotland and NHSGG&C, David Goodall’s award-winning Changed Days is a moving, poignant film about seeing the person, not the condition.

Crush

First commissioned as a stage play by the National Children and Young People’s Prevention Network. Due to the stage play’s success, money was secured from the Scottish Government to produce the film version of Crush. Adapted and directed by David Goodall, Crush is a study of abuse and control in teenage relationships.

Gillian and Alex are best friends forever. But how long does that last when Jack enters the picture? When does “care” become control?

A powerful and disturbing story of one girl’s journey to a place of despair and emptiness.

Gold Stars and Dragon Marks

Also commissioned by the National Children and Young People’s Prevention Network. This piece was also developed to fulfil one of the Scottish Government’s priorities of tackling the issue of domestic abuse through education. In order to develop the play as a continuously available resource, money was secured from the Scottish Government to produce the DVD version of Gold Stars and Dragon Marks along with a CD ROM resource pack. Adapted and produced by David Goodall of Soundmove, and directed by Alison Couston of Baldy Bane, this piece look at issues affecting younger children living with domestic abuse in terms of their own behaviour and that of a constantly changing peer group.
